Since April and Shaun live in Dubai, they knew they wanted to host a grand celebration here in the North East with all their friends and family. Inspired by their love of music, we share with you this ‘festi-chic’ wedding day at Woodhill Hall wedding venue
“With living in Dubai, we wanted host a huge and informal party at home, with all of our friends and family. Although we didn’t exactly have a theme, I would say that it was important that our entire day was focused on being personal to us both and those around us.”
“As for the overall feel of the wedding, the only way that we can describe it ‘Festi-Chic’, as we wanted to have a vintage-chic feel for the wedding ceremony and wedding breakfast, to then be followed by our own music festival.”
“As we always knew we wanted to get married at home so that all of our friends and family could attend, we had looked around a number of venues in the North-East but none of them were quite right…. and then we found Woodhill Hall.”
“As soon as we saw the quirkiness of the venue we knew that it was the one! I personally immediately fell in love with the Orangery, being so white and bright with an unbelievable countryside backdrop, it was everything that I wanted for the ceremony! Then there was the added bonus of the tipi, cigar hut and not to mention the amazing guest rooms, each adding to the overall quirkiness of the venue and making it stand out from the crowd!”
How did you choose your photographer?
“We initially chose Lee because of his unique style and love for black and white photographs. His style was exactly what we were looking for i.e. not stiff and not your standard, posey wedding photographs.
“After meeting Lee for our pre-wedding shoot in December, we knew we had made the right choice as he immediately made us both feel relaxed and made the whole experience hilarious.”
Advice for other brides and grooms when it comes to wedding planning?
“Inevitably things will not go exactly to plan on the day (and even though I was told the same advice before I got married and thought people were insane for saying it), things that go ‘wrong’ are in reality so small and honestly have no bearing on your special day. All that matters is that you are marrying the love of your life and the day is entirely about you both, nobody or nothing else.”
What was your highlight of the day?
“Although I could honestly list a dozen parts of the day as my favourite, the ultimate highlight for me was having the opportunity to celebrate such a special and unique day with all of our family and closest friends. As we live in Dubai, we do not have the opportunity to visit home very often and being able to spend such a special day with family and friends, who travelled not only from all over the UK, but also literally the world (including Ireland, Dubai and Australia), meant that for one day everyone who we love was together in one place to help us celebrate and that is something that we will always remember and be grateful for!”
