REAL WEDDINGS
Wynyard Hall: Amy and Jason A Traditional Country House Wedding
In advance of our hotly anticipated wedding show in the Grand Marquee on Sunday 3rd Feb (Yippee!) book your ticket here, today's real wedding is from the stately Wynyard Hall.
The story of how Amy caught Jason’s eye has long been the cause of some playful ribbing and featured pretty heavily in both the Groom’s and Best Man’s speeches on their big day. The pair met through Facebook when Amy stumbled onto his online profile and was fascinated by photos of his recent round-the-world trip. “It all started with a friendly ‘Poke’ – they never let me live it down!” laughed Amy.

Yet what transpired to be a very modern start to their relationship thanks to social media, ultimately let to Amy and Jason planning and sharing a very traditional and elegant wedding day at Wynyard Hall last September. The couple opted for a simple, classic theme for the occasion, with touches of gold and blush throughout, and chose their photographer Katy Melling based on her romantic and timeless style.

The Venue:
Amy and Jason fell in love with the setting and grandeur of country house hotel Wynyard Hall and exchanged vows within its ornate Brooks Chapel, encircled by beautiful stained-glass windows and lavish Italian marble.
Amy said: “We visited many wedding venues but found ourselves comparing them all to Wynyard Hall. We loved the idea of our wedding flowing naturally in one place and the day ran seamlessly. The venue is simply stunning.”

The Photographer:
In keeping with the timeless elegance of their day, Amy and Jason specifically wanted a fine art style to their wedding photographs. “We saw Katy’s work and it blew us away,” gushed Amy. “We had a pre-wedding shoot with Katy and it gave us the opportunity to get to know her before the big day. She is such a genuine and lovely person, and it was a pleasure to share our wedding day with her.”

The Dress:
Amy visited bridal shops throughout the region and tried on countless dresses before opting for a stunning Essense of Australia lace-back gown, with a flattering high neckline, beautiful detailing on the capped sleeves and intricate laser-cut lace edging on the train. “I made the most of wedding dress shopping and sharing the experience with my mum and bridesmaids,” said Amy. “Ultimately I found the one on my doorstep at Dobinson’s of Darlington - they were absolutely brilliant and made the experience so special.”

Bride’s Advice:
“Enjoy every second of planning, but come the day make sure you take it all in, as it goes so fast. Purposefully take time for yourselves - we agreed that once our band began, we would spend the evening on the dancefloor together and that was one of the best parts of the day. Jason and I had a bit of an impromptu dance-off circled by our guests and that memory will always make me smile.”
