When Michael proposed to Lisa during a snowy Christmas shopping trip in the quaint setting of York, they were blissfully unaware they were already setting the scene for a timeless elegant wedding that they'd yet to plan.

Encircled by the picturesque backdrop of Wynyard Hall, Michael and Lisa said “I do” in front of friends and family on May 8th 2017. With a profession in architecture, it was no surprise that Lisa picked this captivating venue full of historical charm for their special day. “As soon as we entered Wynyard Hall and looked up at the beautiful stained glass roof in the statue gallery, we knew this was the venue for us.

“The Mirror Room was the perfect romantic backdrop for our ceremony. The formal Ballroom looked beautiful for our wedding breakfast and we had the newly refurbished conservatory for our evening party. The grounds are equally as stunning as the building and a beautiful setting for sunny days.”

Shades of blush pink and greys filled the venue providing that everlasting elegance Lisa and Michael had hoped for. “We went for a timeless classic theme. The aim is to look back on our photos in 30 years time and still be happy with them."

“The wedding breakfast menu was very important to us. Wynyard Hall worked with us to develop a bespoke menu. Beautiful canapes were served during the champagne reception including smoked salmon and caviar cones and pumpkin velour.”

“We spent a lot of time carefully selecting music for the day which helped to create the right mood. We had a romantic atmosphere during the day and throughout the wedding breakfast with the string quartet and Hip Operation gave us the high energy party atmosphere we wanted in the evening.”

What was your highlight of the day?
“We loved letting our hair down in the evening and hitting the dance floor with our family and friends (and even members of the band!)”

Advice for other brides and grooms?
“The day goes so quickly and you’re constantly being pushed and pulled in different directions. My advice would be to take 5 minutes together to sit back and soak in the environment. Enjoy listening to the buzz in the room – friends and family laughing and enjoying themselves.”
