A setting summer sun and a paradisiacal setting is everything we need right now.
This styled shoot from #guestlist creatives Skellon Events is serving up all those summer alfresco wedding feels, gathering a luxe group of Welsh suppliers to execute a swoon-worthy scene.
Maybe a smaller-scale summer soirée should be first on your Wedmin list. That’s certainly the view of Katie from Skellon Events, the styling queen behind this shoot.
Let’s hear her take on it…
“We wanted to show what you can really achieve for small weddings and elopements even during these testing times.
With everything going on so many couples have lost sight of that true wedding excitement that makes the process and the day so special, and we wanted to show that having a smaller wedding wasn’t ‘downgrading’ but in fact quite the opposite.
High focus on florals, extra detailing, sunset receptions with golden hour cocktails and a bold colour scheme of contrasting peach hues with black meant that small still made a statement.
Although there has been so much sadness surrounding Covid 19, one positive was the fact that people really started rallying for small business’ and shopping local.
We saw the beauty on our doorstep rather than the ease of an online shop, and we really wanted to capture that in the shoot.
Our first stop was Rose Hip and Wren – an amazing local North Wales business creating the most amazing dried floral arrangements.
Her attention to detail and personality means she goes above and beyond, showing that even though your numbers may be smaller, your florals can go bigger to turn your venue into something exquisite.
Raw Focus North West captured the golden hour with rust-hues magnificently.
Sunflower Cakery proved that smaller cakes could just be as equally beautiful (and delicious) and Little Creations created the cake topper with Welsh wording.
When we were looking at styling the shoot, we saw the most amazing overhanging tree branch and we knew we needed to incorporate it. Add some mirrors penned with calligraphy from Nia and it became a real feature for the table plan.
Confetti was dried florals sourced from Erlas Walled Garden.
The garden aims to promote and protect the health of people with disabilities by providing meaningful daytime activity, education and work experience in a garden business environment, allowing individuals to develop their mental and physical capabilities, thus improving their quality of life – a perfect choice for supporting local.
The Bride wore a beautiful vintage gown from Monsoon passed down from a family member (a perfect ‘something borrowed’) and sparkled around the field with its intricate beading.
We really wanted to emphasise that your wedding can be anything YOU want, and if that means the groom wearing his Nike Air Max 97/1 Sean Wotherspoon’s combined with a blush pink suit, then we absolutely encourage it!
Ruby and Ophelia created the stationery, and as usual, owner Jodie totally excelled herself. She is a super Mum to two small children, and is now taking the market by storm shipping her bespoke designs all over the UK.
From table settings to backdrop design, we at Skellon Events created the rest – and we LOVE the combination of the two contrasting colours, finished with black glassware and crockery from Whitehouse and acrylic peach table settings from Vellamaes.
We wanted to incorporate elements of nature along with a certain romanticism and individuality, and we think it was a great success.”
We can’t help but agree with Katie. This shoot shows how small weddings can have big details, all courtesy of talented wedding creatives who, more often than not, are right on your doorstep.
