Brinkburn Northumberland

INTRODUCTION

When it comes to modern weddings that have it all – and when we say all, an unforgettably traditional setting with the artistic flair of a contemporary wedding hideout plus unimaginable dining and luxury accomodation – there's no beating Brinkburn. Owners Emma and Mark came into ownership of the estate back in 2007 and since then, they have quite literally transformed it into

one of Northumberland's most prized romantic spots, retaining much of its original charm but developing a selection of modern spaces in close quarters  for the ultimate intimate family affair. Exposed brickwork, soft, buttery neutral interiors (housing some ultra cool artwork), luxury boidoirs and the relaxing babble of the River Coquet in the distance – this truly is a venue like no other.

THE WORLD AT YOUR FEET

Where else can you get married in a 12th century original Priory, have a dazzling post-wedding photoshoot in stunning grounds before heading down to your very own party complex complete with mystical Nordic tipis and a party room? It's the perfect fusion of modern with magical and trend with tradition. A destination for modern couples to have the wedding weekend of their dreams. Your own lovely little spot, sitting pretty right on the banks of the meandering River Coquet.

WEEKEND WANDERERS:

A Brinkburn weekend wedding is the stuff of dreams. A three-night stay for up to 12 guests, check in 4pm Friday, marry on Saturday, relax with family and friends Sunday, checkout 10am Monday.

THE PRIORY

Perhaps the real draw of this place is the onsite 12th century priory just a few steps away from the main venue. If you're looking for a traditional religious church ceremony, this is the place – huge stained glass windows, original organ, vaulted ceiling that dwarfes your significance but pulls it right back up as 120 of your friends and family watch on in delight.

THE MANOR HOUSE

A perfect spot for a post-ceremony photoshoot, or an intimate ceremony, this monastic paradise next to the Priory offers an enchanting backdrop unlike any other.

THE WHITE ROOM

A super stylish space with original fireplace and chandeliers, this is French-inspired elegance at its simple best. Use it as you wish - a civil ceremony fitting up to 80, dining for up to 50, or a designated party room for the late night revellers.

A JOURNEY OF JOY: During the tipi wedding breakfast your evening band or DJ discreetly set up alongside the Brinkburn team who transform the White Room into a glamorous dancing space. Music played in the White Room is piped through into the tipi bar so that guests can enjoy a seamless evening of music, dancing and chilling.

THE TIPIS

Two joint structures on the terrace that come alive when the sun sets. Twinkling festoon lighting, incredible rustic interiors, firepits and a bespoke, fully-stocked bar, the tipis seat up to 120 people for sophisticated dining before transforming into the ultimate party spot.

AND SOMETHING TO EAT?

Canapés in the sun, sophisticated three-course dining, gastronomic grazing boards and the coolest street food for late night bites – it's all on offer here. Enlisting esteemed local company 19.01 Catering, Brinkburn offer couples only the finest fodder with locally-sourced produce and impeccable presentation at its core. Dan, the head chef of 19.01, is a local foodie with a real eye for trending flavours and creative dishes inspired by a multitude of cultures.

BELLE LOVES:

Our pick? The evening street food menu featuring Lamb Bao Buns, Thai Chicken Skewers, Peanut and Ginger, Chicken Katsu Curry and Chicken Sliders with Sriracha Mayonnaise. Our prosecco-glazed hungry eyes are thanking you.

In the way of drinks, Brinkburn's team will work with you to craft your own bespoke offering. Local lagers, personalised cocktails, signature G&T serves, champagne towers – whatever your taste, they've got the tipple.

THAT CALLS FOR A RESTFUL RETREAT

Your own onsite accomodation never looked so good. The estate can sleep up to 28 people across six beautifully-appointed residences, all designed in line with Brinkburn's tonal trendsetting appeal. Log burners, cosy bedrooms, flat-screen TVs and country character providing five-star simple self-contained luxury of a higher order.

Emma has tastefully updated the Grade II-listed Stable Block to a state of utter contemporary luxe, with neutral tones, original stonework and smatterings of stylish modernity at every corner.

Brinkburn offer a range of different wedding packages for both peak and off-peak periods. Head to their website for more information, and get in touch with their team to arrange an exclusive viewing.

REVIEWS

Thank you to all at Team Brinkburn for the most amazing wedding weekend in October! Meeting Suzette at the very first (of many) open weekends started off our experience how it was to go on… She was so welcoming and warm and so were the whole team throughout everything! Each open weekend we felt like more and more part of the Brinkburn family. We saw it in so many layouts! No question was too small, too silly or too much to ask. Leah, you’re an actual goddess! Even before all the Covid changes, you were absolutely on it! All of our questions were answered so efficiently and nicely and you gave us plenty of ideas and suggestions along the way. Then… Covid! Your whole team were superb, and moved heaven and earth so far for us to get the day we (re-re-re-)imagined. You all took time to chat to us and find out our priorities, how to adapt the day/weekend to 30 guests down from 80, and even when a week before and we had to go down to 15, you made it so easy for us. I loved that I asked you for suggestions on how to arrange the ceremony room for 15 and I had hand-drawn plans, (3 of them!) within about an hour to choose from! Amazing! Even a shoulder to cry on (virtually), or someone to share ideas with and hear suggestions from, you were everything! With confetti not really being covid-secure, Emma suggested ribbon wands which did feature in our day. You also gave me a voice on local radio to discuss the restrictions and how they were affecting our day. Now to the actual wedding weekend! From arriving, and guests checking in and to the rehearsal, you and the team were so friendly and helpful, and couldn’t do enough to help. You made it all seamless. The morning of the wedding, just pottering in the background so that everything happened smoothly was fantastic! Even the team holding up umbrellas for me heading into the ceremony room as it was raining, to others holding them up against the windows so no guests could sneak a look, it was all so effortless. Moving the decorations was all seamless and perfectly managed. I knew letting Leah have creative licence of where to put the decorations in case of bad weather was a fab idea, and she delivered! The bar staff were friendly to our guests, even to my Dad as he just bought the full bottle of Southern Comfort… Allowing us to adapt the cocktail menu to have Pina coladas was brilliant, certainly made my day (amongst you know, getting married 😛 ) and a few others’! Managing the order of the day, and the transitions between each part was fantastic. And at the end of the night, the ‘deconstruction’ was so subtle I barely noticed until the end of the final song. Thank you for allowing us to have such an amazing wedding among all the circumstances in the world at the moment. It may not have been what we originally dreamt, but it was absolutely the most perfect day we could have ever imagined. Thank you thank you thank you.

How lucky were we when we happened upon Brinkburn Priory, Northumberland, during our search for the perfect wedding venue? Everything from start to finish was faultless in every way. The staff are so amazing particular thanks to Leanne and Emma for being on hand the whole weekend, you are stars! Brinkburn Priory is tucked away in a beautiful tranquil spot of Northumberland, Longframlington. The wedding venue is sympathetic to the natural beauty of Brinkburn. To spend a wonderful weekend here, celebrating our daughters marriage Stephanie to Hamish, will live in our memories forever. Just look at how happy the beautiful bride and groom are, thank you. With much gratitude to you all.

THANK YOU so much for our beautiful wedding. There’s not a thing I would’ve changed! Everyone still talks about it! Food was amazing, staff were faultless! They ever arranged the weather! I was in the early stages of pregnancy at the time and staff made sure I always had a non alcoholic drink so no one knew! We visited on our anniversary, this time with our son and got him christened by James, who married us!

After searching Northumberland for our wedding venue and finding nothing that ticked all the boxes we arrived at brinkburn and immediately fell in love with it, from the charming stables and tipi, the magnificent priory and Manor House surrounded by peaceful gardens, woodland and having such a relaxing feel about the place we knew it was for us! From start to finish everyone worked exceptionally hard to make our day as perfect as possible and there really wasn’t anything we would have had different, our day was absolutely perfect and we couldn’t have wished for anything more from the whole team, thank you so much to Leah for coordinating everything (which wasn’t the easiest of tasks as were certainly not the most organised people ourselves!) you did a cracking job and we appreciated everything you did to make our day exactly as we wanted it! Our guests kept asking where we managed to find such a beautiful place and they couldn’t believe how incredible it was! We will definitely be coming back here to visit as it was just a magical weekend! Thank you all so much!
